It returns the title of "Heroic" the Capital of the Province of Junín
     DECREE LAW Nº 20686
 
THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
WHEREAS:
The Revolutionary Government has given the following Decree:
CONSIDERANDO:


WHEREAS former "Village of Kings", now City of Junín, the capital of the province of the same name, suffered with stoicism the unique rigors of the campaign of 1824, during the War of Emancipation National, only to receive the reward immolation of their defenseless inhabitants and the participation of their battle, the title of "Heroic Villa of Junín." That gives the Liberator Bolívar by Decree of October 30th 1824;

To be elevated to the heroic town of Junín "to a city by Law No. 9834, was omitted from the deserved title granted by the decree in reference that the commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the glorious Battle of Junín and Ayacucho is an opportunity conducive to save this omission as a tribute to those who fought for freedom and political independence of the homeland:

In exercise of its powers that are vested, and with the approval of the Council of Ministers gave the following Decree:

Single Article. - Restored the title of "Heroic" the capital of the province of Junín, which is now called Heroic city of Junín”

Given at the Government Palace in Lima August 6th 1974

Therefore:
Command is issued and enforced.
